The New England Patriots used to be a likeable team - hard working, classy and quiet. But things have changed, and these days it’s very easy not to like them. Here are 16 reasons you may want to root against the Patriots during the playoffs.

16: This Woman is a Patriots Fan

15: Tom Brady Once Dated Tara Reid

14: The “Woe is Me” Patriot Fans

Despite being 16-0, on the cover of every sports publication throughout the season, being featured in prime time more than any other team, and having the highest regular season TV ratings, Patriots fans regularly claim they are disrespected.

13: Which is Worse, the Yankees Hat or the Purse?

12: Vince Wilfork Cheap Shot #1

Patriots DT Vince Wilfork was fined $12,500 by the NFL for this hit on JP Losman of the Buffalo Bills. Notice how as he is falling his elbow magically rises up into the knee of the Buffalo QB. Losman missed several games with a knee injury.

11: Vince Wilfork Cheap Shot #2

Three weeks after his cheap shot against Losman, Wilfork was fined $5,000 for a hit against Jason Witten of the Cowboys.

10: Vince Wilfork Cheap Shot #3

In the final game of the season, Wilfork poked his fingers through the facemask and at the eyes of Brandon Jacobs of the Giants. He was fined $15,000 by the NFL.

9: The Patriots Bandwagon is Full

bus

In 1992 the Patriots had just 19,000 season ticket holders – an unbelievably low number by any standard – especially for one of the top markets in the NFL.  Just 12 years later the team had tens of thousands of people on the waiting list for season tickets – a jump in demand of over 70,000 people. Amazing how a Super Bowl and a shiny new stadium creates football fans. To see real fans, have a look at attendance in much smaller cities such as Green Bay or Pittsburgh – regardless of their team’s record.

8: “FedEx From Mr. Belichick”

February 25, 2007 — New England Patriot coach Bill Belichick has been supporting his alleged mistress - a New Jersey housewife in the midst of a divorce - by sending her envelopes stuffed with cash and buying a secret $2.2 million Park Slope town house for her use, court papers allege…

Vincent Shenocca, who owns a stucco business, contends his wife has committed adultery with William Belichick at various times and places presently unknown. He told relatives he intercepted FedEx deliveries to Sharon that held cash from the coach…

Sharon, who met Belichick in the 1980s when she was a receptionist for the New York Giants and he was the team’s defensive coordinator, insisted he was just a “family friend”

7: Randy Moss – Lots of Touchdowns, Bad Guy
moss
While one of the best receivers in the game, Randy Moss has a long history of poor behavior, lack of effort and run-ins with the law. A few highlights:

1995 – Plead guilty to battery after being involved in a fight that left one person in the hospital.

1996 – While on work release, tested positive for marijuana.

1997 – Said the 1970 Marshall University plane crash "was a tragedy, but it really wasn’t nothing big”

1999 – Fined $40,000 for squirting an NFL referee with a water bottle during a game.

2002 – Arrested after bumping a traffic officer with his car.

2004 – Walked off the field during the game where his team was down by 3 points.

2006 – Generally gave up on his team and showed a complete lack of effort during the second half of his season with the Raiders.

When being questioned about his frequent lack of effort during games he famously said “I play when I want to play”

6: Tom Brady’s Kid has Playdates with Matt Leinert’s Kid

In December of 2005 Tom Brady broke up with his girlfriend of 3 years, actress Bridgette Moynihan. On February 18th, Moynihan announced she was 3 months pregnant. In January, Brady and Brazilian supermodel Giselle were first spotted together in public.

5: Rodney Harrison – Dirty Player, HGH User

Patriots Safety Rodney Harrison has long been recognized by fellow players as one of the dirtiest players in the league. This season he was also honored by the NFL with a 4 game suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy after he admitted taking Human Growth Hormone. (He also proved his intelligence by ordering the HGH online in his own name)

Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens – meet Rodney Harrison.

4: We Are Allowed to Score Whenever We Want – You Are Not

The same New England Patriots who go for it on 4th down when they are up by 38 points in the 4th quarter and say "it is the other teams job to stop us" didn’t always sing that tune. In 2002 when the Patriots beat the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Steelers did their best to score in the final seconds of a 30-7 game that they were losing. After the game, Tedy Bruschi said:

“I did have some respect for that team, but after what they pulled on that last drive, it’s totally lost now" Bruschi said. “You’re getting beat….just accept it with class. I know we would have if the tables were turned. But they’re out there calling timeouts, trying to get extra yards, padding their stats”

3: More Hannah Montana than Joe Montana

Tom Brady actually said this:
Matt (Casell) and I fight like teenage girls. We are always slapping each other around and wrestling and slap boxing and [messing] around with each other in the weight room. And so I decided to take that to the next level. And we were messing around in the quarterback room one day and he walked in with a milkshake, and I kind of put my foot by the door, and I kicked the door and the milkshake splashed up and went all over him. So he sat down, and I was laughing. So I said give me the towel, because I wanted to clean up the wall. So I threw the towel at his face, and it had shake all over it. He had a little shake in his mouth and he spit it all over me.

2: Who Cares About the Concussions, Get on the Field

In early 2007, former Patriot Ted Johnson told the Boston Globe that he suffers from severe depression which he links to the approximately 30 concussions he sustained during his career. He told the Globe a story about a concussion he suffered during training camp in 2002, and how Bill Belichick made him return to full contact practice against Johnson’s wishes and before he was medically cleared by the Patriot staff.  On his first day back to practice – he suffered another concussion and was immediately sent to the hospital.  Johnson’s teammate Roman Phifer told the Globe “What they did to Ted was just wrong.”

1: The Patriots Cheated
belichick

No matter how hard their fans try to spin it, the Patriots cheated. They cheated, they got caught and the league gave them the single biggest punishment in NFL history. Nobody likes cheaters.

Great post! Clearly a lot of effort went into this. Thanks.

    Go Jags!

  2. on 11 Jan 2008 at 10:44 am admin

Thanks Dewey, I think think the Jags will need all the help they can get on Saturday but we can all hope….

  3. on 11 Jan 2008 at 10:44 am Peter

Points to like about the patriots:

    - they are trying to push the envelope…being minutes away from another superbowl wasn’t good enough, so they went out and got an outstanding receiving corps, adalius thomas etc. all those bold moves paid off and where there once were doubters there are now admirers

    - they could achieve something historic…this is not about a single superbowl triumph…this could be the best football team EVER…and we are privileged to watch their games…I hope they achieve their goals to say in 20 years I saw those 07 Patriots…

    - they cheated…big deal! everyone tries to get an advantage in sports today…difference is: they got caught, paid their price and it is absolutely certain that they didn’t cheat THIS season because they were scrutinized like no one else…

    GO PATS! THREE MORE WINS!

  4. on 11 Jan 2008 at 10:54 am admin

Peter - I agree this might be the best football team ever. I - like a lot of people used to actually like the Pats, but then the bandwagon filled up, the fans got annoying and then came HGH, Cheap Shots, Randy Moss and so on…

  5. on 11 Jan 2008 at 11:03 am Johnny

Under NUMBER 5, you left out one name that belongs under insanely stupid individuals in the NFL… namely, Mr. Shawn “Lights Out” Merriman. After all, he developed his reputation as possessing some sort of sacking prowess, only to get nailed for STEROID USE. He got nailed and served a 4-game suspension for injecting “the horse” into his body, and by filing a bogus appeal, he ended up getting to hand-pick when to serve that suspension (I believe he “dropped his appeal” and thus timed his suspension to coincide with the weeks when the Chargers were facing their weakest opponents during their “breakout” season in which they went 13-3 and lead the AFC. The question I have, actually, I guess I have 2 questions: (1) What the hell is that dance?! and (2) Whatever it is, did he come up with it during a ‘roid rage incident?!

    GO PATRIOTS!!!

  6. on 11 Jan 2008 at 11:03 am J-Ri

I love it! Great post :) I hope the Pats crumble like like Lindsey Lohan’s rehab. Go Jags!!

  7. on 11 Jan 2008 at 11:07 am admin

Johnny - don’t disagree about Merriman - total idiot who was obviously getting a huge boost from the roids. doesn’t remove any blame from harrison though…..

  8. on 11 Jan 2008 at 11:09 am NY

This is a response to SP who is a Boston fan no doubt. How can you sit there and make fun of NY teams when all of your Boston teams are built as a model of the New York teams. All the players on the Pats are bought, Red Sox same way, do you even have any home grown players on your team for the Red Sox? Celtics bought, i mean yes you are winning but i remember a phrase from the Boston area saying you will never be like New York and buy players, well that is exactly what you did. No matter how you try to justify it in that little head of yours they bought and cheated to get to the top.

The pats dont deserve to win, LIARS AND CHEATERS never win in the end and that is all Boston is!! They were not good enough to hang with the big boys so you have to do the dirty deeds to make it somewhere.

  9. on 11 Jan 2008 at 11:09 am Levon

As a lifelong Pats fan, you can’t really blame the fans for not showing up pre-1992. We had the worst stadium and the worst ownership, period. And most of the time you could also add the worst Coaches and Players. This wasn’t like San Diego that almost had a playoff game blacked out because they couldn’t sell out. The same way I can’t blame Twins or Clippers or Bruins or Knicks fans today for not showing up, I’d say the same thing about those Pats teams.

You will notice that once Kraft took over the team and showed that he was serious by bringing in Parcells, tickets sales took off and havn’t diminished since, despite some lean years between the Parcell’s era and the current Brady/Belichick era.

  10. on 11 Jan 2008 at 11:10 am AF

SP, you’re the loser. Your team is 16-0 and you can’t handle some jabbing here? Get a life. Where were you when the Patriots sucked all those years ago? Probably not defending them.

AND, Tom Brady is most definitely a girl.

  11. on 11 Jan 2008 at 11:13 am jason

You forgot Vrabel, the biggest scumbag on the planet

  12. on 11 Jan 2008 at 11:16 am AL

It should be 15 reasons because no one should count the hit Wilfork did on Losman. If that didn’t happen then they would have still been cursed with him for the whole year and certainly would not have had the same record.

  13. on 11 Jan 2008 at 11:21 am Mike OB

F the pats - the 2nd poster PS is a weenie

  14. on 11 Jan 2008 at 11:22 am John

    Ha,
You are a jealous new york fan, figures. What a MORON, HaHaHa

  15. on 11 Jan 2008 at 11:24 am John

Listen to all you faggot losers cy babbies in here. Pieces of sh!t, winers.

  16. on 11 Jan 2008 at 11:50 am Dice

SP - You’re probably the biggest loser alive. Get Serious - The Red Sox payroll is pushing 200 million also. Be serious you smelly dumb ass douchebag.

  17. on 11 Jan 2008 at 11:52 am Dice

SP - also Boston is probably the dorkiest town in history. I have never seen so many gingers (definition - dorks with red hair and frekles)…Insert SP’s picture here.

  18. on 11 Jan 2008 at 11:54 am admin

SP / DICE / Everyone - enough already or we’ll just turn the comments off.

  19. on 11 Jan 2008 at 11:56 am NY

SP - Really there is a cap wow did not know that one, thanks for being so brilliant and explaining that to everyone. Like we all do not know this, the fact is New England and the Red Sox both said in public statements we will not be like New York teams. That is the point and I will watch my jets all the time because unlike most Boston fans i stick by my team no matter how bad they may suck. You missed the main point, Boston teams are no good unless they follow in someone else’s foot steps and if they can’t win by buying players alone then they cheat, can’t dispute that one when you have players suspended for drug use, dirty players getting fined for trying to purposely injure other players and coach’s using video tapes to steal other teams plays.

  20. on 11 Jan 2008 at 11:58 am Dice

Sorry about that. My apologies. NFL playoffs just get me fired up!..Go Giants!!!

  21. on 11 Jan 2008 at 12:00 pm Paul

PS wrote - “If everyone else is doing it, I don’t think it’s cheating”

I hope your the only one that believes this. If not, it is a very sad comentary on where we are as a society.

Just imagine a society where nothing is illegal, wrong, or immoral if “everyone else is doing it”

I think that is what all the looters and theives say “It’s not wrong if everyone else is doing it”

Wow I am sure Barry Bonds and the other ROID users would love to have you doing the investigating into their steroid use….after all it could not possibly be wrong, since everyone else was doing it, right?

  22. on 11 Jan 2008 at 12:02 pm Jogin

Boy that ginger comment really ticked off the admin. Keep it up Dice.

  23. on 11 Jan 2008 at 12:16 pm yankee_chic26

Don’t look now PS but your beloved Sox payroll isn’t far behind the Yanks, and it isn’t getting smaller…. Although the Yanks haven’t won a series recently, we still have 78 years to catch up to the worst dry spell in baseball… And you forgot a reason - the Pats fans are the most obnoxious fans in the NFL. The only worse sports fans are Sox fans.

  24. on 11 Jan 2008 at 12:25 pm Bosox1007

NY: Home grown talent on THE team of the decade - Tom Brady, Troy Brown, Tedy Bruschi, Kevin Faulk, Steven Gostkowski, Jarvis Green, Ellis Hobbs, Nick Kaczur, Dan Koppen, Matt Light, Logan Mankins, Laurence Maroney, Ryan O’Callaghan, Asante Samuel, Richard Seymour, Ty Warren, Ben Watson, Vince Wilfork, Eugene Wilson.

Maybe you can look up your facts before you spout off some random garbage. Looks to me like thats an entire offensive line, most of a D-Line, the heart of our LB’s, one of the top CB’s in the league, oh and of course a Hall-Of-Fame QB.

This list is JUST players the patriots drafted. This doesn’t count the Rookie Free Agent players they have on their roster. A sign of a model franchise is drafting good players, locking them up to Cap friendly deals and surrounding them with talent from other teams.

It’s ok to be upset with the Pats for taking the Yankee concept and actually made it work…Heck for that matter so did the Red Sox…How have these players worked out for you…Giambi/Clemens/Arod/Sheffield/Kevin Brown/Damon/Igawa…the list goes on and on

You all sound so petty and sad…not what you expect from fans from a city that has more championships across all sports than any other city in the country.

  25. on 11 Jan 2008 at 12:33 pm Bilron

I Can’t believe how stupid Patriots fans are. They actually sit there and try to make excuses about how the classless acts of the Pats and Bellicheat. Just give up Pats fans, they are the dirtiest, scummiest team in the history of the game, and have been for 5 years. Bellicheck is a scum bag, and ever since he’s been in charge they have been a dirty team. They try to play that humble pie bullshit, yet they have the biggest ego’s I have ever seen. Especially Bellicheat and Brady, who sounds very gay, and a dick when he talks about his interactions with Cassel, by the way.

  26. on 11 Jan 2008 at 12:54 pm Steve

The only people who root against the Patriots and bash the Patriots are the stupid jealous fans who wish it was their team. Face it Boston has become very quickly title town and it ain’t about to dry up anytime soon with the Sox,Pats and now the resurgence of the Celtics….

  27. on 11 Jan 2008 at 12:55 pm Mike

[quote]They cheated, they got caught and the league gave them the single biggest punishment in NFL history.[/qoute]

Great point except for one small thing, you’re wrong. You want to talk about cheating and punishment, take a look at the Denver Broncos who were fined in BOTH 2001 and 2004 for salary cap violations that took place between 1996 and 1998 when they won 2 Super Bowls. In each case, they were fined over $950,000 and forced to forfeit a draft pick.

Funny how no one seems to give two squirts about that, isn’t it?

  28. on 11 Jan 2008 at 12:57 pm nathan

The Patriot’s “cheated” in the first half on week one. What happened the other 15.5 weeks. LOL

  29. on 11 Jan 2008 at 1:03 pm Levon

I guess I was expecting too much by hoping for some intelligent discussion. Bottom line, the hatters will always hate and the fans will not change their mind.

Oh and to all the haters, the more you work yourself into a froth hating on the Pats, the more it makes me smile. I still remember Irving Fryer getting stabbed by his wife, I still remember Eason getting murdered in the SB, I still remember Zeke Mowat, I still remember when we were almost the St Lois Patriots, I still remember Parcels stabbing us in the back before the Super Bowl, the list goes on and on. No matter what you say, I’ll still enjoy this great (historic) run we are on.

  30. on 11 Jan 2008 at 1:07 pm NY

BoSox1007, first off I spoke of the Red Sox not the Pats my friend, the Pats do have many players who were drafted and have stayed with the team. So maybe you should get your eyes checked and read a little more carefully next time.

For instance your favorite Big Papi started with Minnesota, Manny clevland, Curt Schilling was drafter by Boston but was then traded to Baltimore, Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell Florida.

I mean honestly is that enough stats for you before I say anything else.

Also, maybe the O-line, but how about recievers? Defense? Rodney & Junior San Deigo, Vrabel Pittsburg, Thomas Baltimore, Randy Minnesota, Welker Miami, Donte New Orleans, Kyle Brady THE JETS.

Yes, all teams do buy players but to act like you are something great and did something special to get where you are please get over yourselfs. At least we can admit we go after the best and don’t act all innocent about it.

Team of the decade, please more like the Cheaters of the Decade.

  31. on 11 Jan 2008 at 1:14 pm Steve

Your just another “sore loser” New York fan. Your Jets are pathetic and so are your Yankees!

  32. on 11 Jan 2008 at 1:16 pm Ben

All these crazy, New Yorkers, if it was so easy to buy a championship as you say the Pats are doing, then why can no other team do it and win 3 superbowls in five years, and how is it that we can buy better players with the same salary cap as everyone else. so pretty much you are getting mad because the Pats make better personel decisions then every other team in the NFL.

  33. on 11 Jan 2008 at 1:18 pm Pat Patriot

    Hey Gmen Fans,

Without Bellicheat the Giants would not have won those 2 superbowls. Where do you think he learned how to cheat?

  34. on 11 Jan 2008 at 1:18 pm Bosox1007

Typical jealous fans with no real basis for an argument …bringing up something else to divert peoples attention from the discussion at hand. This was a reason to hate the Patriots, not the Red Sox…

Reasons non fans “hate” (when really it’s just jealousy) of the Patriots:
    1. They Win
    2. They draft better than any other team
    3. They sign more quality players than not

Can you honestly tell me how many teams have a roster full of their own drafted players? Seriously now…don’t make this turn into a Football 101 seminar. You listed off some great players there, some who were proven stars when we signed them (Thomas, Moss, Harrison, Colvin (whom you omitted) but there were also some guys the Patriots took risks on (Vrabel - a nobody in Pitt., Welker - an up and comer and a bad decision by Miami, Seau - OLD)…so stop being jealous and enjoy history in the making.

Cary on with your petty school girl comments…we’ll just sit back and enjoy each win as they come along. All things do come to an end and at some point NY’ers and Bostonians will both be griping about some other city.

  35. on 11 Jan 2008 at 1:20 pm Levon

    NY wrote:

Maybe he needed the special decoder ring to understand what you meant

  36. on 11 Jan 2008 at 1:21 pm Ben

NY - DID YOU REALLY PUT KYLE BRADY ON THE LIST OF IMPORTANT PLAYERS??

Junior Seau - no one else wanted him
Wes Welker - his own team did not want him
Rodney Harrison - everyone thought he was done
Moss - this one is more complicated for a NYer like you to understand, but Moss was acquired as a result of the Branch trade. We traded Branch to Seattle for a 1sr round pick, which we traded to the 49ers for a 2008 1st rounder (#7 if anyone cares) and last years fourth round pick. We then traded that fourth round pick to the Raiders for Moss. We traded Deion Branch for Randy Moss and the seventh pick in the draft.

Do not hate on us because we have the smarted front office in the league, you haters might be stupid, but every other team in the NFL would love to be able to model their system around what Kraft, Pioli, and Belichek have done to turn this franchise around.

    16-0:enough said

Mangini is a rat and needs to stop snitching. you guys are little whiny bi$%hes

  37. on 11 Jan 2008 at 1:25 pm NY

I think Donavan Mcnabb explained it best when he said the patriots might as well send the rings to them after they cheated.

Don’t get me wrong New York teams buy players better than anyone else in the game, The Yankees, Rangers, Knicks, I can’t deny that at all, and especially since they aren’t doing anything with them it makes it worse, but to make the statement that you don’t want to be like New York teams and then do the same thing acting like you didn’t do anything wrong is the point.

You want an intelligent conversion at least i admitted that i know what my teams do.

  38. on 11 Jan 2008 at 1:33 pm JB2007

NY your a moron….You come to a blog about the pats and rip into the redsox??…as far as home grown: Papalbon, Lester, Pedroia, Youkalis, Bucholtz, Ellsbury,

But basically you are knocking the pats because they utualize free agency? Are you against capatilism too?)…if a team didn’t draft all there players then somehow they didnt’ earn there 3 superbowls, 2 world series, etc…Everyteam uses FA and no one acts high and mighty because they don’t? as for your jets, off the top of my head: Thomas Jones - bears, Matt Chatman and Kareen Browns - THE PATRIOTS, Coles - redskins….all free agents or trade….and don’t forget where your hack coach came from…

  39. on 11 Jan 2008 at 1:39 pm Joe

    25

The number of players on the Patriots roster who were drafted by the team in the last four drafts (2003-06).

and that is just the last four years

  40. on 11 Jan 2008 at 1:40 pm Bosox1007

“Don’t get me wrong New York teams buy players better than anyone else in the game, The Yankees, Rangers, Knicks, I can’t deny that at all, and especially since they aren’t doing anything with them it makes it worse”

From NY fingers to everyone’s eyes. This statement sums up all the Patriot haters…THeir teams spend money and lots of it on players, but they don’t perform…New England spends money on players and they have career seasons.

Isn’t it funny, jsut 2 or 3 years ago, the Patriots were called cheap…they wouldn’t pony up records amounts of money for Damien Woody, Lawyer Milloy, Ty Law, Deion Branch.

So lets see the lesson learned here folks:
Patriots win when they don’t spend money
Patriots win when they spend money
Patriots win when they trade their picks
Patriots win when they don’t trade their picks
Patriots win when they draft players
Patriots win when they think a draft is weak (last year) and don’t keep most of the players they drafted

Be sure to study kids, there will be a test.

  41. on 11 Jan 2008 at 1:42 pm Rob

Bosox homegrown talent, did you notice a guy named Papelbon in the playoffs? How about Pedroia or Elsbury? Lester? Do you realize that to get players like Beckett, they traded home grown talent? Yankees hire overpriced mercanaries to try to fix things, Sox build from the draft.

As for the Pats haters, of course they’re out there crying. It sucks to be beat by a great team, it sucks to lose. People in Green Bay go to games when the team sucks because the only other thing to do in Grean Bay is pack meat. Jealous haters.. It’s good to be king.

  42. on 11 Jan 2008 at 1:44 pm Steve

Dude you are a fucking toaster. I would rather bang tara reid than the dudes you get with. You sould like such a whiney bitch. The Patriots are an amazing team this year. What they did was awesome. Just consider yourself lucky for being able to watch such a team. WAAAAA they cheated WAAAAAA the coach had an affair. SHUT UP TOOL

  43. on 11 Jan 2008 at 1:47 pm Dice

The Patriots have built up so much bad karma this season, that there is not a doubt in my mind that their season will end in horrible fashion….mark my words…a horrible day for the PATS is near and could come tomorrow night!!!..or at least next week against the colts..YOU’LL SEE…

  44. on 11 Jan 2008 at 1:52 pm Joe

Uh Oh, now that the haters have realized they have no legitamite or sensical argument, they are throwing bad karma at us. you know what f$ck bad karma, and f$ck you Dice. Thanks for helping us win the WS though, now that is 100 mill, I was glad to see us spend.

  45. on 11 Jan 2008 at 1:54 pm Dice

Joe - why don’t you go comb your ginger hair.

  46. on 11 Jan 2008 at 1:55 pm Dice

Joe - just sit back and wait for your horrible playoff exit…

Another bitter whiny article by a jealous writer who follows a different team. Enjoy Jacksonville, the anal passage of Florida. Touchdown.org = Jr League Bit*ch.org

  48. on 11 Jan 2008 at 2:17 pm admin

Another classy Pats fan - you guys are making this argument really easy….

  49. on 11 Jan 2008 at 2:19 pm Chas

As a lifelong Bostonian, Pats season ticket holder in the early 80s, and after 40 plus years with no Championship (I don’t like basketball) I am so happy - mostly because the run towards those championships was quality time spent with the guys I grew up with once again, my parents, brother, etc. To the 16 comments I say, “let he who is without sin cast the first stone”.

I happen to love the Yankees. Sure, I prefer the Sox to win, but I appreciate the hype and fun when the two teams meet. I love whoever the Pats rival is, be it Jets or Fish. I just love the reason to get excited man. People who “dislike” a person because they are say…a Yankees fan - speaks to their lack of maturity and shallow head.

My only regret is my Father passed away before witnessing SB 36 or the 2002 World Series.

Hey admin, Do you realize the entire league is filled with HGH and cheap shots? Ever hear of the Broncos? Did you know in the Elway era, they were busted for tampering? Did you know they were known for cheap shots? Did you know the great Steelers team also lost draft picks for breaking rules? We get people whining about Brady having a child out of wedlock, meanwhile they have Travis Henry on the team and he has 9 kids with 8 different moms… you have Mike Vick going to jail for killing dogs and Adam Pac-Man Jones etc.. Same with Randy Moss, if he’s on your team you love him, but because he beats the snot out of your team, you hate him. Merriman was suspended for HGH.. and so on.. Just admit the real reasons you hate, it’s jealousy.

  51. on 11 Jan 2008 at 2:20 pm Chas

…and before anyone “calls” me on it…that’s my step father I’m referring to in the previous post.

  52. on 11 Jan 2008 at 2:27 pm Rob

You say something dumb, they say “hey, that was dumb” and you say “see, you’re making my point”?

You’re making our point.. boohoo, the bad Patriots have a QB who wears a euro bag. As if you wouldn’t love to have Tom Brady QBing your team… get real. You’d kill for BB and Tom, just admit it and move on. You look like a fool. Let me guess, next you’ll claim that if your team hired BB and Tom, you’d stop watching football because of your high moral fiber.. yea… Oh, you forgot to whine about how people should all hate Colts because Peyton Manning mooned a trainer twenty years ago.. (sigh)

  53. on 11 Jan 2008 at 2:35 pm Darren

Did you know that all 22 Colts starters on offense and defense have never played a game for another team? Saturday was picked up by the Ravens, but never played for them. Based on that, I’d say the Colts are the best drafting team in the NFL, not the *Patriots. Adam V. is pretty much their only unrestricted free agent that have picked up in the last couple of years.

  54. on 11 Jan 2008 at 2:40 pm Rob

But the Patriots don’t compromise the integrity of the league by laying down and letting the Titans win like the Collusion*Colts after the coach was so quick to call out BB for locating his camera on the sideline instead of in the press box. Hypocrite, but then I guess that’s how those religious fanatics can be.

Did you also know that Peyton Manning is the only QB in NFL history to win a Superbowl after throwing more INTs than TDs in the playoffs? Bob Sanders put him on his back and carried him to the promise land while he had his head hiding under a towel and couldn’t look. Did you also know that he sexually harrassed a trainer in college, she said he put his privates on her face while she was trying to tape his ankle. Very classy.. I guess we need 16 reasons to hate on the Colts next by this guy.

  55. on 11 Jan 2008 at 2:40 pm bb

I’m not a Pats fan or hater, but I am pulling for the perfect season. If for no other reason than to finally shut Mercury Morris up.
The idea that the Pats cheated by filming the opposing coaches is so petty. You have to awfully naive to believe that your favorite team wasn’t keeping a record of their opponents play calling…

  56. on 11 Jan 2008 at 2:43 pm CJ

Bosox1007 said “2. They draft better than any other team.”

Did I read this wrong? Maybe you should go to COLTS.com instead of beating off the photos of Tom “I’m a metrosexual” Brady.

I quote “Of 22 Colts starters, none has played in a regular-season game for another NFL team. The Colts are the only team remaining in the NFL playoffs with no starters who have played for another team, an attribute Head Coach Tony Dungy said is by philosophy and design.”

Incase you can read between the lines all 22 starters were drafted and signed as rookie free agents.

Maybe you should do your homework.

As for the JP Losman cheat shot. If Ray Lewis did that to Fag boy Brad. You would be crying that Lewis be band of football.

    FUCK the Pats.

Don’t talk about that piss poor win over Indy in week 9. The Pats beat the Colts by less than 5 points. Number 88 didn’t play that game.

And don’t talk about Brady having the Touchdown record. Manning did it in 497 attempts it took Brad 578 to beat him by 1. A difference of 81… Mmm?

  57. on 11 Jan 2008 at 2:47 pm Dale C

F the Pats. Go Seahawks Baby!!!!! ‘07-’08 Superbowl Champs!!

  58. on 11 Jan 2008 at 2:50 pm Bosox1007

CJ: 22 starters all drafted/FA rookies by the Colts…That is VERY impressive, but that doesn’t mean they are the best at drafting. Good drafting needs to have results too…

    Indi Colts - 1 Ring
Team of the Decade - 3 Rings

    Thank you.

Rob, Agree with you good posts man

  60. on 11 Jan 2008 at 3:13 pm Rob

Thanks Steve, these haters talk about “class” as if this isn’t a brutal sport. This isn’t ballroom dancing, it’s pro football people… time to get off your high horse. Don’t make me bring up O.J.!

I guess when one of the reasons is “once dated tara reid” you just laugh and move on. This guy will get some hits from his idiotic dribble, have to give him that.

Here’s the bottom line, America is sick of the Patriots because they got all excited about the NFL parity myth. They figured they had a team with a chance now, and the Patriots are ruining all that. So they cry and write stories like this one to feel better. I’d be sad for them if I didn’t have to sit through 30 years of ‘bucky dent’ and ‘1918′.. the 85 Bears, 86 Sox… I’m enjoying it, every bit, these haters can try to diminish my pleasure by pouting, stomping, folding thier collective arms and saying “cheaters cheat cheat”.. I know what’s up. Enjoy the ride.

I’ve always hated the Pats and felt I had enough reasons to, thanks for the help in adding a few more. GO JAGS!!

  64. on 11 Jan 2008 at 4:10 pm Dewey's Mom

Dewey, you couldn’t be more full of sh*t! Clearly you are jealous of a team that quite possiblly be the best football team of all time. Why should you hate? All the Patriots have done this year is gone out and win games. Either by embarrasment or by luck. Point is, they win. I will give you the Harrisson, Wilfork, and spygate (to a point; it was more arrogance than cheating). But, c’mon the only real difference between the makeup of this team and say the 03 team is the fact that the hundreds of different media outlets giving them praise. Don’t fault Patriot fans for that. We are one of the most passionate, loyal, and respectful fans in the league. At least we aren’t Philly fans.

  65. on 11 Jan 2008 at 5:03 pm ShooterB

Very well done! Whether you love ‘em or hate ‘em, you make some interesting points.

I’m not sure which is scarier…that crazy chick in the YouTube video, or Tara “just one more surgery” Reid.

  67. on 11 Jan 2008 at 5:31 pm Tom Brady

  68. on 11 Jan 2008 at 6:05 pm GoBills

    Boston sucks.

Awful city, terrible fans, and everything’s overpriced- from beer to athletic talent.

To all Boston fans (regardless of the sport): Please, I’m asking in a civil manner now, please please please stop with this “you hate us because you’re jealous.”

No, I’m not jealous. I’d rather root for the losing Bills than the perfect Pats, I really would.

For once in your myopic lives try and see yourselves as the rest of the world does.

And just to clarify the statement above: the rest of the world does NOT see you as the luckiest fans on earth. Most folks who visit your city hate it. And just about everyone living in Boston who wasn’t born there is plotting their escape. You are not perceived as a classy people, and you are certainly not anything ANYONE would be envious of.

  69. on 11 Jan 2008 at 6:08 pm GoBills

    To Dewey:

no, you’re not Philly fans. They ARE, unquestionably the WORST!

But another thing you aren’t is respectful and loyal. That’s just nonsense to me.

May be you (singular) are. But by large you (New England) are not.

  70. on 11 Jan 2008 at 6:16 pm GoMoss

Moss’ quote about playing when he wants to play was not in response to a question about his effort. The question was “does Cris Carter make you play harder?” He replied, he plays when he wants to play. The quote has been taken out of context for years.

  71. on 11 Jan 2008 at 6:35 pm Boston Fan

GoBills. That is an ignorant thing to say. Have you spoken to everyone who has every visited Boston, probably not. And every team in every sport has moronic fans. And when you have a large portion of fans “hating” your team you would do the same thing as Pats fans. You defend your team no matter how dumb you look.

  72. on 11 Jan 2008 at 7:10 pm dumasu

  74. on 11 Jan 2008 at 8:54 pm JT in T.O.

The only thing that surprises me about this list is how short it is.
I have been calling the Pats all kinds of things for years now — including cheaters — this was long before spygate ever came about. Good to see it’s all coming out now.
If I hear another commentator say this era of the Patriots is a “class organization” one more time I’m going to heave!! It’s the most classless organization since the Broad Street Bullies in the 70’s.

  75. on 11 Jan 2008 at 10:07 pm BClaff

I have to agree that Wilfork is an a-hole.

Wow - this is really strange…the title looks like a football story…the site name looks like a football site…but it appears I must have stumbled into the Access Hollywood blog with Nancy Grace.

So this is what Patriot haters are ranting about? Apparantly the stats don’t work in your favor, so you resort to attacking paparazzi style?

    Talk about classless…

Bring the hate!!! Let me add one more ‘I hate the Pats’ bandwagon jumpers to my list. When all of you parrot-fans-of-inferior-teams shut up about the Patriots, then I’ll know we have jumped the shark.

  79. on 11 Jan 2008 at 10:50 pm Mike

Honestly, I don’t know why a player’s attitude (or “classiness,” for that matter) matters so much to everyone. I can see why coaches and staff would want to evaluate those kind of intangibles, but if I’m honest with myself, all I care about is how well the players, well, play. For instance, Tom Brady. Sure he’s girly and ditched his son with Bridget, but why does that matter so much to everyone? Shouldn’t we just watch and enjoy what he does on the turf? Isn’t that what he’s here for?

  80. on 12 Jan 2008 at 1:21 am BahstonSux

Bosox2007….last time I checked, it was NEW YORK that had the MOST championships, NOT Boston. Do your homework, moron…just like you got called on the drafting issue. The decade isn’t over YET and the Colts could just as easily win the next TWO SBs to equal the Pats’ SB totals. To act like this season is already over is just assinine. A common Bostonian trait to be sure!

GoBills…good call on the Boston thing. The city really DOES SUCK…but mainly due to its inhabitants. Overall, the most obnoxious bunch of self-important know-it-all prejudiced jerkwads on the planet!

  82. on 12 Jan 2008 at 2:35 am WhinyPats

I like how Pats fans always try to blanket Harisson’s steroid use with “Merriman did it, he’s a douche.”

Who the hell was talking about SD anyway? This is about RODNEY HARISSON juicing up, but you guys can’t even admit he’s a DIRTY CHEATER like the rest of your team. Who gives a damn about Merriman or anyone else who got caught as well. No one was talking about them. Admin was just pointing out that Rodney did it. Pats fans (and the media it seems) ALWAYS try to dismiss this against the Pats, and try to deflect attention by ripping on other users. What’s the matter? You can dish it but can’t take it?

    Go Giants.

  83. on 12 Jan 2008 at 4:27 am Harry

    I have a list,

Worst list ever for reasons to route against the Pats,

    1 - Yours.

I mean come on dude. Cheap shots by Vince, mistress of Bill, Bradys girlfriend? That is pathetic. I hope you realize that most every team in the playoffs has the same if not worse reasons to route against them. Take off your skirt and do your job and realize that the Pats are better than anything you got going on you loser. I mean Strahan is getting in trouble for abusing his ex wife, TO is the biggest douche in football, and Jack Del Rio once F’d up his punter with an ax.

  84. on 12 Jan 2008 at 5:00 am Joe Giants Fan

All i can say, is the Giants really made the Patsies sweat last game of the season (I was there). I can see a Giants-Pats superbowl..and this time we’ll get the job done.

BahstonSux: I do hope are not referring to me as a moron, in regards to the city with the most championships…

If you read my entire post, which I can understand not understanding all those big hard words….I said:

“You all sound so petty and sad…not what you expect from fans from a city that has more championships across all sports than any other city in the country.”

That was a direct shot at NEW YORK fans…I wouldn’t waste my time getting into a debate with you, it would be a waste of my good time…

And I’m not sure I was “called out” on the draft topic…I said bravo to the colts for 22 drafted starters…but a successful drafting team should have trophies to show for it…Pats 3 - Colts 1.

I’ll sit back now and read as you all attack bizarre non football related topics to bash YOUR team of the decade.

  88. on 12 Jan 2008 at 8:49 am Hammerhead

I’ve generally not hated on the Pats. Sure it’s easy to think Moss is a piece of crap, cuz he is.My beef is with the bandwagon-jumpers. They have come scurrying out of the darkness this year, like cockroaches in a Manhattan dine. People who cheer for a team just cuz they’re good, and they think it makes them look smart or passionate.
This piece just shows how crap floats to the top all too often. Crap like Wilfork, Harrison, and their average LB, Bruschi. I hope they sink like Titanic. Maybe this year, maybe next. Just let it be so.

Reason #17-infinity to hate Pats fans: every single Pats fan comment to every single blog or article about the Pats (or Colts) for the past decade.

  91. on 12 Jan 2008 at 12:30 pm Snerdly

Because only the truly great teams in history are so passionately despised (Cowboys and Yankees, for examples), all of the hatred expressed on this, and other sites strikes this lifelong Pats fan (from the Sullivan Stadium, Steve Grogan days) as the highest form of compliment that an opposing fan could give.

    Thanks guys.

I agree that the cheap shot on Losman was… OK.

Love the quote by Bruschi about running up the score though… great stuff.

And it doesn’t matter if they cheated, it’ll be overlooked, the fine is nothing to Bruschi/the team, and no matter how dirty they are, there are other players just as dirty… they just kind of come together in New England quite well…

    I hate the Patriots.

In Moss’ defense, that Marshall plane crash quote was taken way out of context. The question that was asked was if he was motivated by the tragedy. And about the Raiders, he said himself that looking around the Raiders locker room, guys pretty much didn’t seem to care if they lost games. Why should he be the only guy busting his ass if no one else wants to put in the effort? I know it isnt the best way to go about doing things, but I can’t say I blame the guy either.

  105. on 13 Jan 2008 at 8:56 am TruthSleuth

As a lifelong Wisconsin resident, I would like to dispel this myth that Packer fans are the most faithful fans in the history of the world. A lot of the season ticket holders only go to the games when the Packers are winning; the rest of the time they just hold on to them and sell them (at a sizable profit, of course) to others who otherwise never get a chance to go to a Packer game, because only the season ticket holders get them. And there are plenty others who never go to games PERIOD but just sell them for profit.

And how come people rip on Brady for having a kid out of wedlock when Brett “Golden Boy” Favre had a kid who was SEVEN YEARS OLD before he finally married her mother? Plus at least Brady has never been a drug addict, unlike the “Golden Boy.”

Plus the Patriots sent the Jags packing. ‘Nuff said.

BTW, I think it was the great prophet God Admin who said: “Those who oppose sixteen and O, must not like winners” Dont hate them for being the best team EVER. Hate them because you hate the city of Boston or something like that. Its not every year some 6th round draft pick hurls 50 touchdowns and some crazy pot head addicted to the wrong side of the law receiver hauls in 22 touchdowns. I think thats its kinda funny they threw up beginner madden mode numbers. Bout time. Now I dont feel so bad when I play madden and beat the AI 63-3 (they always get a field goal!). This is the God Admin, I am out.

When you cheat AND run up the score, you can set records.

No matter what happens with the Pats, not only does this season get a *, the entire Belichick era does.

Pats fans are correct about not getting any respect. No reason to give them any.

  111. on 13 Jan 2008 at 6:08 pm Pat the Hat

That you even devoted time to pull this highly unoriginal stream of unconsciousness is laughable. Firstly, I’ve seen just about all of these “reasons” on other websites so you just ripped off other peoples work. But the best thing is that your going to have to steal 3 more “reasons” when all is said and done around 10:30PM EST on February 3, 2008. 19-0. You know this is killin’ you. Try to redeem yourself by giving me 5 original reasons “Why Peyton Manning looks Like a Cross Between Forrest Gump and Frankestein”. Maybe then I’l be impressed.

  112. on 13 Jan 2008 at 7:48 pm Mata

The reason the people didn’t go to the games back then was cause the stadium was so far from the center of the city that nobody bothered to go to a shitty stadium to watch an even crapier team. Let’s face it The Pats are great, but We haven’t had a good team here in a while and when people start to hate on us we don’t know how to react.

  117. on 14 Jan 2008 at 9:16 am SUJAY

The Patriots CHEATING did have an effect on this year. Their cheating in the past helped them to some degree, nobody can really say how much. Since we don’t know, you have to credit some of their past success to the cheating. IF not for the their past success (and cheating), they would not have been able to get Moss for so cheap. And this team is not 17-0 without Moss.

So the cheating does taint everything they’ve done this year too.

And everyone believes the patriots season is tainted. You just won’t hear mainstream media discuss it because people like ESPN, CBS, etc. are all partners with the NFL. It is in their best interest as well to protect the integrity of the league, even if that means pretending the Pats season is not tainted even though it is.

  118. on 14 Jan 2008 at 10:04 am Laughing Very Hard!

First off…great read Admin. That was fun!

Tom Brady will be in the hall of fame because of the numbers he has accumulated. While he is a good quarterback, he is highly annoying and acts like a moron in his personal life. Big plus for him is that he has the media all over his jock.

If the Pats make it to the SB (please God NO!!!) then let me give you a likely scenario. No matter who shines or what happens in that game, win or lose, Brady will win the MVP. Venetari should have been the MVP in your first superbowl, but Brady was chosen.

The cheating thing is ridiculous, they should not even be allowed to compete in the playoffs for it, much like what would happen to them if they were an NCAA program…period!

As for the AFC Championships, it will be amusing to watch the “Patsies of the west” (San Diego Chargless)head to Foxborough. They are hated about as much as the Patriots are out here on the west coast.

PS….to all you Patriot fans out there…no one outside of New England or ESPN likes the Patriots. Get over it. Winning for one little span in the history of the NFL does not entitle you to the owning title of best of all time or dynasty.

Three things I got from this list

    1. Ugly women want to have Tom Brady’s baby - which compels them to make stupid youtube videos.

    2. Attractive women want to have Tom Brady’s baby - which compels them to go off the pill without telling him.

    3. Men want to have Tom Brady’s baby - which confuses them greatly and compels them to make 16 point lists to prove to themselves that they really don’t.

Patriots are going all the way. There’s no stopping them. This is history in the making. Chargers stand no chance. Did you hear LT. Last year after they beat them he said the pats have no class. This year before the game he’s praising them cause he knows if he talks smack that will just give the patriots unnecessary extra fuel to win this game. It might be a close game but we all know who’s coming out on top. GO PATS

You know what I love.. When the Pats fans say ‘everyone cheats so that means its ok.’ lol. Yeah, everyone cheats, thats why everyone gets caught all the time and no one is going to have a first round draft pick next year right? I think the biggest reason to hate the Pats is Billicheck. He’s an assh*le and no one in the nfl likes him. He can have all the trophies and rings he wants but its not like he can sell them for friends, so whatever.

Your all just mad cause a 5 ft 9 inch 185 pound man child named Wes Welker is stylin on you! Forget about Moss, its all about Wes freakin Welker people! No one in the NFL including Moss has been as reliable as this little bastard has. When the going gets tough, the Wes gets going!

Just like little Dustin Pedroia(also 5 foot 9 inches, coincidence? I think not!) of the Boston Red Sox, all we need is short, little Rudy look a like for fans to root for, thats all any Boston team needs.

Yeah we video taped the Jets. Ok fine.
Yeah the Jets/Mangina snitched on us. Ok fine.
Yeah it was the first week of the season, but you don’t win games with a video tape(unless the videotape is magical), you win games by playing them and scoring points and stopping other teams from scoring and the thats the reason the Pats have been so dominant this year is because they have been so efficient at doing so. Plus you have to realize that during the video tape that they did record(theyre on youtube go watch em) there were so many signals and signs thrown out by so many people that it’d be highly unlikely for them to properly use them to their advantage.

The tables have turned for Boston/New England teams, in the past 8 years and since we’ve started to win so much we’ve become one of the most hated cities because our teams just keep getting better and better and now our Celtics are beastin it so we will soon have a trophy from them too.

And its okay, we love the hate, we bask in it! Your all mad cause your teams have lost and the Pats are going to take a Super Bowl victory this year. Its okay, I understand the hate, its jealousy and envy it brings all the anger out of people. Most of this has been said already but you cant say we havent earned out dynasty status fellas, 3 rings soon to be 4, one of the greatest if not THE GREATEST quarter backs in history, one of the greatest coaches in history, one of the greatest offenses and defenses in history and did I mention Wes Welker coming out of nowhere and scoring on your asses? It was meant to be fellas. Period point blank.

Just take off your jerseys, have your mom or boyfriend or your cousin(you freak!) wash them and iron them for you and put them in the closet for next season cause its over guys, its over.

Just remember, theres always next year…FOR LOSERS!!!

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

17 and 0. Do I have to say anything else? Do I really?

  135. on 17 Jan 2008 at 2:27 am BaskingInTheHate

Bellichick doesnt need friends beacause his rings and trophies keep him warm at night, and if he needs a friend, theres a few million Pats fans who wouldnt mind being his friend. Plus he doesn’t get paid to make friends, he gets paid to win, period.

Oh, and the reason why he cuts off his sleeves is because the NFL makes the coaches wear NFL branded clothing so he justs cuts the sleeves off to piss off the NFL.

Thank you patriot fans for proving my point and the whole point of this post. You are annoying as hell and are celebrating a historic below average team that is finally having success, although you had to cheat to do it. You do have good players (although some are dirty), but that doesnt wipe out your ridiculously bad history of losing.
Everytime your comeback is “your just jealous” or “everyone does it”. Weak. Come back with some actual arguments and maybe you would gain some respect.
I absolutely hate the Chargers, but I pray to God that they shut down the bandwagon express.

  138. on 17 Jan 2008 at 1:21 pm pat_cake

“You are annoying as hell and are celebrating a historic below average team that is finally having success”

    Historic below average???
The Patriots have been to the Super Bowl FIVE times.

    Five.

    That’s F I V E. How many teams can beat THAT!? (answ: 6)

And they WON three. How many teams can beat THAT!? (answ: 3)

They also have won 51.2% of their games. For comparison, The Steelers are also 51.2%. The highest are the Bears at 58%

Next time, have a clue before you spew gibberish.

  139. on 17 Jan 2008 at 1:30 pm The only Dolphins fan left

Holy crap. Reading these reader replies made my IQ drop about 15 points. As a life long Dolphins fan, believe me, I hate the Pats. But you gotta respect what they have done.

This whole cheating thing is lame. First of all, I’d bet anything that over 50% of NFL players are on performance enhancers. The expression “my chemist is better than your chemist” originated from the NFL for god’s sake. It’s not that hard to cheat a drug test. Especially when you have money.

Tom Brady banged Tara Reid during her American Pie 2 days. She was still hot back then. He also was rumoured to be in orgies with some models (all female) inbetween tara and Bridgette. And now that he is tapping Gisele’s ass, he gets respect. . . He’s also pretty clutch too.

To that idiot New York fan who keeps saying the Pats aren’t a home grown team, welcome to the Salary Cap era. The Pats still have a big core of homegrown players.

Sure Randy Moss has a criminal record. But what NFL player with talent hasn’t slapped around a stripper or a cop, or hasn’t run a dog fighting league? *tongue in cheek comment*

As for the fans doing the whole Whoa’s me, bit. Yeah, that’s stupid. But aside from this year, the Pats have been overlooked somewhat by NFL prognosticators. And it usually comes before the Pats plays the Dolphins. Then Brady rapes the Dolphins six ways sideways. But when you constantly have players on other teams saying the Pats are over-rated and their team is going to beat them, yeah, expect for a team to eat that shit up. That’s what they call bulletin board material.

In summary, Tom Brady is better than all of us, everyone cheats, hate, but respect the Pats. Their players actually play like a team. That’s what makes them so damn successful. How many teams out there have stars who will diminish their role for the better of the team? Hardly any. Hell, how many role players in the NFL would do that? That’s why the Pats are good.

PS: Fuck you New York Fans for making me just defend the Pats. Go Packers

  141. on 17 Jan 2008 at 4:28 pm Ravens

BOsox you and Mike the pats fan the and all the other pats fans you guys are retarded. BOsox didn’t you say the pats were the best drafting team? Take a look at the Colts they are the best. 22 starters have never played for another team. They have one of the top defences The best QB in the NFL, the DPOY,the best pass rusherin the NFL,great WRS,a very good OL and RB.Now thats good drafting. If the pats were so greta at drafting then why did they have to go out and get 3 new WR an AD?? And for Mike you said ” People in Green Bay and Pittsburgh are retarded. New Englanders have better things to do than pay out the ass to see a shitty team in the cold on Sunday” Thats called being loyal to your team. Pats fans should take notes on that. I’m so sick of hearing about how everyone else does it if that was true then why have NO OTHER TEAMS BEEN FINED?? ANd wh ywere teams complaining about the pats tapeing? The pats and thier fans talk about ” what a classy team this is. What a fucking joke. Brady leaves his pregant girlfriend, Mss in trouble for beating up his girlfreind,Billacheat cheating on his wife. Wilfork and he cheap shots. It makes you think all those ” half time adjustments” the pats use to make and then in the second half they’d come back and win. It was called cheating. I don’t want to hear that it didn’t help them cuz if it didn’t they wouldn’t have done it. I don’t want to here about how Peytons not the best,Brady has 3 rings bullshit. Because noone ever talks about Terry Bradshaw as being one of the best QBS of all time.He has what 3-4? Rings for qbs don’t mean shit. It’s about stats. Peyton put the Colts on back for years with no defence a kicker who choked in the playoffs and look how many games he won. Same with Farve and McNabb. I don’t hate the pats cuz they win I hate the cuz thier a bunch a dicks.

  142. on 17 Jan 2008 at 6:05 pm gyugkj

every team has good and bad aspects about it. lets just face it, people are always going to try and tear down whichever team is on top and always try and dig up dirt on them. people can act like the pats are “classless” but there is not a single team consisted of complete angels in the nfl. it is clearly one of the main goals for fans of other teams to criticize the pats as much as possible just because theyre number 1 in the nfl. well, good for you guys…but nothing will change how amazing the patriots really are.

  143. on 17 Jan 2008 at 6:20 pm Tin Man

Pats fan here. I don’t get why people go crazy about hating the Pats. You have every right to hate them, and Rodney Harrison is a douchebag of a player who I’d despise if he weren’t on the Pats. I admit that much of my homerism. The Colts are also better at drafting, though few teams are better. I don’t get the guy who said their defense is all free agents. Just the defensive starters-
D-Line: Warren, Wilfork, Seymour all homegrown
    Linebackers: Only Bruschi homegrown
D-backs: Samuel, Hobbs, Wilson all homegrown
    Offense:
    O-line: everyone
    QB: Brady
    RB: Maroney, Faulk
    TE: Watson, Thomas (on IR)
    WR: none

So that’s not as good as the Colts, but not too bad.

  144. on 17 Jan 2008 at 7:52 pm JB

I didnt feel like reading all the comments, but did anyone say anything about the jets having been caught taping but not being reported to the nfl. Also taping defensive signals shouldnt be a big deal considering during the game there is someone on payroll doing exactly the same thing in the booth for every team, signals should change week to week anyway. though rodney harrison, biggest…prick…ever, he and phillip rivers should be teammates.

  145. on 17 Jan 2008 at 8:55 pm Phil

None of these arguments on either side make much of an impression. The fact of the matter is this is the dirties league in the history of sports. The gladiators have nothing on these guys except perhaps the number of Christians they murdered. Almost every week there is some sort of story of NFL misbehaviour. Murder, wife beating, theft, drunkeness, dope use, strippers, cheap hits exploitation of near cripples and the head injured is simply par for the course. All of this goes on and the NFL has a hissy fit cause Belechik filmed the Jets? Are you kidding me? Who do you think was running the film shop the year before? Football is big business and football will do just what the cigarette companies did. They will lie cheat, steal and kill people if it means they will make more money. However, against this back drop of corporate greed, the Patriots are the best team I have ever seen in 50 years of watching footbal.

  146. on 17 Jan 2008 at 9:49 pm paul

Not following the rules is not the same as cheating. They got no advantage from using the videotape. They could get the same thing by videotaping, legally, from the press box. What you troglodytes can’t accept is that the Patriots are just a damn good team with a damn good coach. Get over it.

  147. on 17 Jan 2008 at 10:00 pm Mark J

    Paul,

If they could get the same thing from the press box then why didn’t they do it?

Tin Man - good post, much better than most of your ilk.

  148. on 18 Jan 2008 at 10:07 am Daniel

Yeah the Patriots got caught cheating on that game against the Jets, and yeah the NFL fine them, but do you really think they cheated all the way to 16-0?

The worst part of this whole cheating thing is how the NFL has always tried to portray the players as role models. With the Patriots cheating, and being allowed to go ahead with the season (unlke college where they would be banned)they are sending a message to our children that cheating is ok, and that Cheaters do prosper.

I have lost alot of respect for the NFL. Who cares about fines in the multi million dollar business that we call the Patriots. Right is right. Wrong is wrong. Our children will be sent a sour message with this one.

Thanks Admin and all you fans of other teams…How about 19 reasons why you deep down respect the Pats and Brady and the rest of the cast. You know you do. Who said it? “I would rather root for the Bills?” Bulls%t!!! You all want Brady and Bill and can not come up with legitimate football, on the field reasons why to hate them, so you come up with off the field rhetoric that means nothing in the end.

    19. Jets 38-14 suck and they know it.
    18. *Chargers 38-14 were building, but maybe they will get another chance later in the year.
    17. Bills 38-7…we had to improve so we got stingier on defense.
    16. Bengals 34-14…we slipped up on offense that week.
    15. Browns 34-17…Campbell was better than we thought.
    14. Previously undefeated *Cowboys 48-27…not anymore.

    10. Bills 56-10 just keeps getting better.
    9. Eagles 31-28, wow they put up a good fight and found ways to handle us, but good we know how to adapt.
    8. Ravens 27-24, I was at this game and I just knew Brady and Co. would come through in the end…more of that adaptability.
    7. *Steelers 34-13, and they made the playoffs?
    6. Jets 20-10…ho hum!!!
    5. Dolphins again 28-7…poor fins, I like them usually despite the rivalry.
    4. *Giants 38-35…another close one, but that word adaptability comes into play.
    3. *Jags 31-20…hmmm, Gerrard was supposed to be elusive?
    2. *Chargers 21-12…got their chance and still couldn’t score TDs. Next year Bolts.
    1. *Giants…been written, but has not happened yet. But take this to bed with your boyfriends boys, The Pats are *8-0 against playoff teams this year. Is that not telling??? Even Shula didn’t face that tough a schedule.

Do your talkin’ on the field…oh, I’m sorry, none of your teams are in this still…except the Giants. And by the way, the Pats are 5-0 versus New York state based teams this year and 2-0 against Cali ladyboys.
